AUTHORS' DRAWING UP INSTRUCTIONS

A)Drawing up doctrinal essays

Doctrinal essays should be clear, brief, concise and strictly regarding to actual topics about new legislation or case law, either on national, or on EU, international and comparative level. They must not exceed ten printed pages, or rather fourty thousands characters, to allow their easy reading directly on the display. The essays should bring, as their main purpose, the analisys of labour law current evolution, describing its basic elements, trends and reform perspectives.

A brief abstract (not more than ten lines in italian and english version) and a summary with every numbered paragraphs' title must preface the essays.

Every title, as shorter as possible, must be reapeted, with its number, at the beginning of the paragraph in the text.

Notes should be brief, they must contain only bibliographic informations and, if need be, some synthetic critical remarks. They must be placed at the end of text, progressively numbered, as indicated in the following informatic instructions. Therefore, every essay's bibliography should be as shorter as possible, to give more importance to text than to notes and to the author's opinion on the treated topic.

The names of quoted authors and of encyclopaedias must be written in capital letters, preceded by the initial only in case of their coincidences (e.g. F. SANTORO PASSARELLI or G. SANTORO PASSARELLI). The title of quoted books or essays must be written in italics. General bibliographic rules must be observed for common abbreviations as cit., op. cit., op. ult. cit. and so on.

Authors must use the enclosed abbreviations to quote reviews, without the preposition "in" (for instance, Pera, Sulle prospettive di estensione delle tutele al lavoro parasubordinato, RIDL, 1998, I, 371 ss.). If a review is not on the under mentioned list, the author is kindly requested to inform the Editorial Staff, in order to update it.

The essays should be catalogued with some keywords, which general heading must be compulsorily chosen from an enclosed list prepared by the Editorial Staff (see the online keywords list). The other headings are freely chosen by the authors and included in a special section of document to be sent to the Editorial Staff (see informatic instructions for authors).

A)Drawing up short jurisprudential comments

Jurisprudential comments must not exceed five printed pages (twenty thosands characters).

The above mentioned rules about essays must be observed. Authors are kindly requested to prefer a critical and syntethic style rather than a descriptive one also for comments. Therefore, they should avoid unnecessary quotes regarding similar or dissimilar precedents. For instance, it happens either when a matter is definitely consolidated (in this case only the most recent Supreme Court of Appeal decisions asserting the basic principle are quoted), or when an uncertain matter has been defined by the Constitutional Court or Supreme Court of Appeal (in this case it is enough to indicate decision defining the main trend). Bibliographic quotes should be essential.

The jurisprudential comment must be composed as it follows: a) heading of delivering authority; b) bold type; c) delivered principle; d) normative references; e) abstract; f) judgement's text; g) comment's text with an incidental summary.

a) General rules must be observed in writing the headings (delivering authority, date, number, presiding judge, compiler, Public Prosecutor, applyer and his lawyer, defendant and his lawyer, judgement's essential elements).

b) Authors must write the so called bold type using, as first heading, a keyword (chosen from the online keywords list) and some sub–headings freely individualized by the writer. Anyway, bold type must be very synthetic to allow its reading "at the first sight".

c) Authors have to copy the main law principle delivered by the Supreme Court of Appeal or, when he thinks it right, write it in other terms, specifying in a footnote that the law principle is not official.

d) Basic normative references of judgements must be indicated.

e) Authors have to add an italian and english version of the abstract, not exceeding (in both languages) fifteen lines.

f) Judgement's text must have electronic format. If this is impossible, authors must inform previously the Editoial staff for transmitting paper texts. Judgement's texts must be wholly written, both the course of events and decision's grouds.

g) Authors may add a summary provided that it does not exceed five titles.

Merely "calls comments" will not be published.
